A Peanut/Nut Free Environment

Within our school community there are several students, who have a potentially life-threatening allergy (anaphylaxis) to foods, predominantly to peanuts and tree nuts. This includes any food that has peanuts or peanut oil / nuts (like cashews or pistachios) or traces of peanuts / nuts in it.

All staff has been made aware of this situation and have been instructed in the correct procedures regarding anaphylactic shock.

We feel the best way to reduce the risk of accidental exposure to these students is to respectfully ask for the co-operation of the parents/guardians within the school community to avoid sending peanut butter or products with peanuts or tree nuts listed in the ingredients or may have come into contact with. Reading the ingredient list each time a new item goes into their lunch is a positive practice. One item that we all take advantage of for their convenience is bulk foods; however these items have no controls in place to control the allergen contact.

We endeavor to make the school a safe environment for all students.

Anyone wishing further information may contact the school.
